Art Director Agreement

As an Independent Filmmaker, (a.k.a. the Producer of a/your Project), you will be auditioning an independent Art Director(s) for your Project. As an Independent the Art Director is not an employee, nor partner, nor agent of the Producer and/or of the Production Company.

The Art Director on a Project will command a role as an Administrator setting tasks and running the Art Department. The Project may be a film, music video, stage play, documentary, animation/cartoon etc.

The Art Director coordinates with the Set Designer, the Set Decorator and Production Designer. Liaison with the construction department is important. Budgeting, scheduling and overall quality control are the Art Director’s responsibilities. On a smaller Independent Project the Art Director will probably also fulfill the jobs of the Set Designer and Decorator.

Signing this contract the independent Art Director is assigning any and all Rights to their work performance over to the Producer.

This Agreement between the independent Art Director and the Producer is drafted in plain English that is easy to read and comprehend. This is a four page, thirteen clause legal Agreement. Boom Operator Agreement

As an Independent Filmmaker, (a.k.a. the Producer of a/your Project), you will be auditioning independent Boom Operators for your Project. As an independent the Boom Operator is not an employee, nor partner, nor agent of the Producer and/or of the Production Company.

The Boom Operator is responsible for the placement of microphones for the recording of voices and sounds. A Boom Operator is an assistant of the Project’s Sound Mixer. The Boom Operator may place wireless microphones on Actors and about the shot. Most of the time the Boom Operator handles a long “fishpole” with a microphone attached to the end. A sturdier version is called a “fisher boom” that allows the operator greater control over their microphone from a greater distance.

Signing this contract the independent Boom Operator is assigning any and all Rights to their performance over to the Producer.

4. The Boom Operator shall not sign any contracts for or on behalf of the Producer nor the Director nor the Project in any way nor manner whatsoever.

Casting Director Agreement

As an Independent Filmmaker, (a.k.a. the Producer of a/your Project), you will be auditioning independent Casting Directors for your Project. As an independent the Casting Director is not an employee, nor partner, nor agent of the Producer and/or of the Production Company.

A vital member of any Project is the Casting Director and her/his staff. During pre-production the Casting Director screens prospective Actors and Extras as required. This process may involve individual interviews for selected Actors to massive recruiting of Extras in public calls. The Talent is then introduced to and considered by the casting panel made up of producer, director, choreographer or any other person so chosen by the Producer and Director. They make the final decision on employing the Actors and Extras.

This panel is looking for individual Actors ability and an Ensemble chemistry that will light up the screen.

Signing this contract the independent Casting Director is assigning any and all Rights to their performance over to the Producer.

Construction Coordinator Agreement

The Construction Coordinator is responsible for building and painting the sets on a Project. The Construction Coordinator will provide all her/his own equipment and tools and hire all construction assistants.

3. The Construction Coordinator shall provide estimates, in Exhibit “A”, to the Producer before construction and stay within these estimates during construction. If construction costs will exceed the estimate, the Construction Coordinator must obtain permission from the Producer to exceed the estimates.

4. The Construction Coordinator shall provide her/his own construction equipment and tools for the Project. The Construction Coordinator hereby warrants that her/his construction equipment and tools are of durable and suitable quality for the Project. Any and all Construction Assistants that are required for the set construction are hired in the employ of and the sole responsibility of the Construction Coordinator and any and all Assistant’s compensation shall be paid by the Construction Coordinator and not by the Producer.

Costume Designer Agreement

As an Independent Filmmaker, (a.k.a. the Producer of a/your Project), you will be auditioning independent Costume Designer for your Project. As an independent the Actor is not an employee, nor partner, nor agent of the Producer and/or of the Production Company.

Costuming a Project is a big operation. The costume Designer must meet all the Actors and Extras, note their physical size and place a costume on them that is appropriate for the period depicted and the Actor’s part in the Project. Costumers may visit costuming warehouse to search though thousands of costumes for just the right costume for the Actor and Extras in the Project. It is often a very time consuming job with long hours of searching and fittings. The Costumers may be obliged to do alterations. The Director has the final say on any and all Actors and Extras costumes.

Signing this contract the independent Actor is assigning any and all Rights to their performance over to the Producer.

Editor Agreement

As an Independent Filmmaker, (a.k.a. the Producer of a/your Project), you will be auditioning an independent Editor for your Project. As an independent the Editor is not an employee, nor partner, nor agent of the Producer and/or of the Production Company.

When the shooting of a Project is completed all the Investors, Producers and Directors have is a series of “takes” or “snippets of film footage”. It is not a completed Project. It is the Film Editor’s obligation to string these snippets of footage together to build the final film. Working with the Director these elements of story must be integrated with dialogue, sound effects, visual effects and music. How dynamic and creative the film becomes and the pace, the rhythm of the film, is determined in the Editing Room. Although much of the Editor’s job is mechanical, it is her/his creativity that is just as important. Film Editing is an Art.

Signing this contract the independent Editor is assigning any and all Rights to their performance over to the Producer.

The Editor shall devote his full working hours to the editing project until the Project is completed. The Editor shall not take on any other Projects that would in any manner interfere with his full attention and time on this Project.

3. If the Editor is providing her/his own Editing Equipment note the assets on Appendix “A”. The Editor hereby warrants that her/his equipment is adequate for the Project, and that the Editing Equipment listed in Appendix “A” is of durable and suitable quality for the Project.

4. The Editor shall not sign any contracts for or on behalf of the Producer nor the Director nor the Project in any way nor manner whatsoever.

Gaffer Agreement

As an Independent Filmmaker, (a.k.a. the Producer of a/your Project), you will be auditioning independent Gaffers for your Project. As an independent the Gaffer is not an employee, nor partner, nor agent of the Producer and/or of the Production Company.

A Gaffer in the film industry is the head of the electrical department, responsible for the lighting plan for a production. This may include designing the lighting for a Project. Many Gaffers are expected to own a truck complete with most basic lighting equipment and then rent extra lighting equipment as needed. The Gaffer is under the auspices of the Director of Photography. The Director of Photography is responsible for the overall lighting design, but she/he may give the decision making to the Gaffer on these matters.

The Key Grip is in charge of some of the equipment related to the lighting and works with the Gaffer. The Gaffer will usually have an assistant called a Best Boy and, depending on the size of the job, crew members who are called “Electricians”, although not all of them are trained as electricians in the usual sense of the term. Experienced Gaffers can coordinate the entire job of lighting, managing resources as broad as electrical generators, lights, cable, and manpower. Gaffers are responsible for knowing the appropriate color of gel (plastic sheeting) to put on the lights or windows to achieve a variety of effects.

As an Independent Filmmaker, (a.k.a. the Producer of a/your Project), you will be auditioning independent Grips for your Project. As an independent the Grip is not an employee, nor partner, nor agent of the Producer and/or of the Production Company.

Grips are lighting and rigging technicians in the film and video industries. They make up their own department on a film set and are led by a Key Grip. Grips have two principle roles on a set. First is to work closely with the camera department, especially if the camera is mounted to a dolly, crane or other unusual position. Second is to work closely with the electrical department to put in the lighting set-ups necessary for a shot.

Grips also satisfy rigging needs on set. Rigs can include working with pulleys, steel cable or trusses, rigging cars on process trailers and placing camera and lights all around the vehicle to achieve driving shots. Grips are also responsible for safety on the set as it relates to the force of gravity. Insofar as stands, ladders, scaffolds, and overhead rigs are properly installed. Grips are charged with making them safe due for crew members to climb on, walk around, or otherwise negotiate the different grip set-ups.

Signing this contract the independent Grip is assigning any and all Rights to their performance over to the Producer.

Production Design Agreement

Script Supervisor Agreement

The Script Supervisor is the Editor’s and Writer’s set representative on set, as well as being the right hand aide to the Director and the Director of Photography. It is the script supervisor’s duty to make certain that the film can be cut together from her/his notes. In that sense, they back up every department, monitor the script during shooting and make sure that errors in continuity do not occur that would prevent the film from being able to be compiled in the editing room. During production, the script supervisor acts as a central point for all production information on a film shoot, and has several responsibilities: continuity, slating, script revisions, production reports and editor’s notes.

Make-up artists change the Make-up and Special effects of an Actor’s appearance using every conceivable shade of foundation, lipstick, eye color and body paint as well as special effects make-up, blood, teeth, casualty packs, bruise kits, wigs and hair pieces. Make-up Artists and Special Effects Artists create glamour or unattractiveness, special props, prosthetics fabrication and application, full body suits and animatronics.

Signing this contract the independent Make-up and Special effects Artist is assigning any and all Rights to their performance over to the Producer.

This Agreement between the independent Make-up and Special Effects Artist and the Producer is drafted in plain English that is easy to read and comprehend. This is a four page, thirteen clause legal Agreement. The Agreement may be filled in on your computer or printed out and filled in later.

3. If the Make-up and Special Effects Artist is providing her/his own Products and Equipment note the assets on Appendix “A”. The Make-up and Special Effects Artist hereby warrants that her/his Products and Equipment are adequate for the Project, and that the Make-up and Special Effects Artist’s Products and Equipment listed in Appendix “A” are of durable and suitable quality for the Project.

4. The Make-up and Special Effects Artist shall not sign any contracts for or on behalf of the Producer nor the Director nor the Project in any way nor manner whatsoever.

Post Production Supervisor Agreement Post Production Supervisor-for-Hire

As an Independent Filmmaker, (a.k.a. the Producer of a/your Project), you will be auditioning independent Production Designers for your Project. As an independent the Production Designer is not an employee, nor partner, nor agent of the Producer and/or of the Production Company.

The Production designer begins her/his duties during pre-production working with the Director and Director of Photography to establish the visual feel and unique aesthetic requirements of the Project. This team must select the settings and style to visually tell the story. A production Illustrator draws the pre-production storyboard.

The Production Designer collaborates with the Construction department including carpenters, painters, plasterers, riggers and other trades, prop makers, landscapers, sign painters, and scenic artists. The Production Designer works with the Art Director to find decorative items for the sets such as appliances, furniture, paint and wallpaper, curtains, knick-knacks and lighting fixtures.

Signing this contract the independent Production Designer is assigning any and all Rights to their performance over to the Producer.

engages the Post Production Supervisor as an “Independent Post Production Supervisor” to perform the services set forth herein, and the Post Production Supervisor hereby accepts such engagement.

2. Among the duties of the Post Production Supervisor, but not limited to the following, the Post Production Supervisor shall be responsible for reading the script, conferring with the Director and forwarding creative and budgetary estimates to the Producer and accountant for review.  Throughout the production the Post Production Supervisor shall coordinate daily with the accountant to ensure a balanced budget is maintained.  Further, all post production staff including, but not limited to film/video editors, sound editors, graphic designers and web designers shall be hired, trained if necessary and terminated if necessary by the Post Production Supervisor.  Any further duties are listed in Appendix “A” attached hereto.  The Post Production Supervisor shall devote his full working hours to the Project until the Project is completed.  The Post Production Supervisor shall not take on any other Projects that would in any manner interfere with his full attention and time on this Project. 

3. If the Post Production Supervisor is providing any of her/his own Equipment note the assets on Appendix “B”.   The Post Production Supervisor hereby warrants that her/his equipment is adequate for the Project,
