Question by laura1977: How much to ask for for house-sitting/ babysitting?
I have been asked to house sit and watch a couple’s 11 year old daughter for a weekend. The parents are going out of town to their son’s school academy for “parent weekend”. I will be at the house Friday night, all of Saturday, and Sunday day. Their daughter is 11 and is very independent and mature. Normally, I would be happy with even the minimum amount of money, since most people have the weekend off and it would be considered “extra money”. However, I usually DO work my second job on both Saturday and Sunday. I will not be working my second job because I have to be at the house. What is the acceptable payment I should ask for? The father is asking me what I want to make but I really don’t know. I am 30, I make $ 15/ hr. at my second job. I thought about asking for what I would normally make if I worked my normal job but that is close to $ 250 and I feel like that is asking too much. Maybe ask for what my net pay would be for my other job…instead of gross? Please advise.

I honestly think you’d be VERY lucky if you could even get $ 100.
I’m sorry but i think you’re asking a little too much ^_^
