Question by Shelby S: Online School…Friends?
Please only MATURE answers. Maybe from someone who has been through online/homeschooling?
I am a 15 year old sophomore and I was looking for an alternate way to finish High School. I came across Kaplan Academy. It is an online free High School and I thought it would be great for me. At first I thought I would be missing out on the “High School Experience” but I have already completed nearly two years and I am pretty sure I will not be missing out on much. I guess I didn’t really take High School as seriously as others, I have good grades but I never got involved in sports, asb, etc. Well anyway, I never had much friends to begin with, especially after I started dating my current boyfriend of over a year. I’m super social but I come across as a strong independent person and I do not get along with people who cause drama…that is NOT how the real world is so why should I have to deal with it now? It makes me emotionally and physically sick, I think and I am pretty sure I know that my strong “I don’t bull shit around” attutude has made people not want to be around me. I hate drama and that was the main reason I was done going to a regular public High School. I know there are people out there who are like me, not loners, but would rather have no friends then fake friends. My boyfriend is a senior so I get to go to prom and even though I may not go to a “Graduation Ceremony” I still receive a California Certified High School Diploma. I am just scared that I will become un social and my boyfriend will be the only person I have besides my family. I have aquantinces but no one I trust and can talk to. Staying in public school is out of the question so I guess what I am really asking is what can I do to stay social and make friends. I’ll have my license and I plan on getting a job and going to the gym and keep myself active but besides sports what is a good way to meet people my age? I am looking for REAL friends and surprise surprise..there are not to many of those in High School. Thank You for reading! Please Help!!!
