Question by Scott k: is there any way i could make a decent living being a movie producer?
im 16 and love film. i would like to be a film producer but i know that it is a tough field to break. im just wondering if i were to go into this business would i be able to still have a nice life, like start a family, that kind of stuff. i just want to know if it is anyway a stable job

Being a producer is no where near stable. It is what you make of it. So if you are a successful producer, constantly producing TV shows and movies, you can make a good living; i.e. Jerry Bruckheimer. That guy produces so much, he probably produces shows he doesn’t even know he’s producing. It’s his company that does the work. Not necessarily him personally. If you are a small time producer who puts out low budget, independent films, constantly making bad decisions; like Cameron Schiller for example (never heard of him? My point exactly). Then you can count on constantly borrowing money from your parents.
It all depends on you making the right decisions and bringing forth the right projects. Yes, it is possible to make a living as a producer but it is also possible to lose it all in a day. As you build your resume and success, consider starting a production company and hiring a staff that’ll get stuff produced under your name. That way you are producing more and more and all will hail the name Scott K!
