Ben Mittlemen’s Dying to Live – The Journey into a Man’s Open Heart makes an especially well received gift for someone about to undergo their own open heart surgery. It is honest in its portrayal of the seriousness of the medical procedure but it is also hopeful. We see Ben, weak and dilapidated, right after surgery. We then see him slowly regain his physical health and wellbeing.
Although the film’s message of recovery and overcoming loss are timeless Ben’s faith plays an important part in his recovery. That is why I believe this film will have a more cohesive fan base in the Jewish community. Ben expertly weaves together his own story with that of his Jewish family’s history and immigration to America.
What makes Dying to Live – The Journey into a Man’s Open Heart so great is that at its core it is a family film. Although the film deals heavily in loss and death, it never lets that become the focus. The film is a celebration of life and an acceptance of the fact that life comes to an end for all of us. It is a great film to watch as a family as it brings up some deeply personal issues.

Question by B. R: I WISH MY HUSBAND WOULD JUST GROW UP!?
My husband and I dated 5 years and married 12. My husband works as a train operator and wants to be a filmmaker but doing nothing to accomplish those goals. My husband gives up on everything he tries and mismanages all our funds. Recently he inherit 20k from his mother and bought us some xmas gifts and spent 18k on himself in 4 months. He’s home for 2 months now for a sprain Pinky, no income coming in, rents and bills are all over due. He’s done this before causing us to lose our first home. I’m a stay home mom taking care of our two kids alone and financially most of the time with outside help. My husband thinks I do nothing, resents I’m a stay home mom and feels he should be able to stay home and do nothing. He sits in his room all day on the computer and watching tv. I’m considering divorce because I can’t take it anymore the children are getting older and I don’t want them to be affected every time their father wants to check out from the real world of responsibility. Please help!

One word: D-I-V-O-R-C-E. He is a case of arrested development and by staying with him you enable him to live like a spoiled ten year old boy not a man with a family, the guy is a total loser.
