Question by samf: Which is a better school- Ithaca College of the University of Miami?
I know this is a very broad question, but I was wondering what the general opinion was as far as reputation goes. I’m going to be majoring in Communications with a focus of Film Production and probably double major in international studies. I was accepted to both schools, and right now, I was offered more money from UMiami, which is my first choice. A lot of people have been telling me lately that UMiami is known simply as a party school where people go to fool around and that a degree from there will not look as good, but, then again, I had never even heard of Ithaca before I started really searching for colleges. Now I could be potentially getting a HUGE scholarship from IC, but I’m not sure if its worth giving up the opportunity to go to Miami.
So does anyone have any opinion as to which school will ultimately give me a better education in regards to communications?

I’m a freshman at Ithaca College. I’m not in the Park School of Communications but my roommate and several of my friends are. I’ve only heard great things about it, they all love their classes. You also have the option of studying abroad in LA when you’re an upper classman. I’m sure you know from the research that you’ve done that the communications department at Ithaca is looked upon highly. I’ve also heard that you can get some great internships and jobs after graduating!
My good friend’s cousin went to the University of Miami and agreed with what you mentioned. There is a lot of partying. But if you’re more into the atmosphere of Miami versus Ithaca then I bet it would work out just fine! Ithaca is a smaller town, with a lot of snow and cold weather. I think it’s pretty cool here, everybody is so down to earth! But everyone has their own opinion. Let me know if you have anymore questions, I’d be happy to help!!
