A ‘Howl’ for today
Allen Ginsberg’s poem “Howl” shook both the literary and legal world back in the 1950s. Fans hailed it as a new style of poetry. The authorities condemned it as obscene. Now the team behind a new film about Howl, which opens in the Twin Cities this weekend, says it’s every bit as relevant today as it was 50 years ago.
