A film I made for my film production class at York University, centered on the journey of Apollo 8 and their reading of Genesis from lunar orbit. I debated heavily whether to upload this due to the fact that it is heavily inspired by an entirely original piece (The Pale Blue Dot by David Fu) and that overall I am not entirely thrilled with how it came out. I would do a lot of things differently if I started from scratch. However, many have told me that it’s great and that I should show it to more people so here it is. As I said, it’s heavily inspired by The Pale Blue Dot, which can be viewed on YouTube here. I wanted to evoke the same kind of mood with a different message. Previous videos focused on space exploration and our place in the universe was focused on the same kind of message: We must preserve our world, our environment, and our civilization. We must stop war, stop global warming, stop fighting, etc. To me these are very idealistic goals that won’t be achieved, and wanted to focus on this theme in a different light. Feel free to criticize all you want, as I said I am not happy with this cut at all but I can’t find anyone who will actually give me any unbiased feedback. I feel the way I presented this was cliche and it fails to stand on it’s own. But this film took too much out of me emotionally to do it again.
