Question by Factotum: Can you direct me to pictures of vandalized first-century Christian art?
I remember seeing a documentary on TV about the first-century church. It showed a fresco—I think in Rome, but maybe Greece—of a female church leader, but at some later date someone defaced her portrait by gouging out the eyes.
A Wikipedia article on the subject indicates that this kind of vandalism was common, but doesn’t include any photos (or links to photos) of such damage. Any idea where I can find such photos?
