New York – Journalists can lose their privilege to shield notes and film from others’ scrutiny if they fail to maintain their independence, an appeals court has ruled as it upheld a judge’s decision to force a filmmaker to release outtakes from his documentary about a legal dispute between energy company Chevron and Ecuadoreans.

Former England striker Lofthouse dies at 85
LONDON (AP) — Nat Lofthouse , one of England’s most powerful and prolific strikers, died on Saturday. He was 85. The former miner, who amassed 30 goals in just 33 appearances for England, died in his sleep at a nursing home in Bolton, northwest England, the club announced on its website.
