SXSW & Austin School of Film Present a Youth Filmmaking Workshop on Stop Motion Animation Saturday, March 14th & Sunday March 15th 9am -5pm SXSW and Austin School of Film held a free Youth Filmmaking Workshop on Stop Motion animation at the George Washington Carver Museum & Cultural center during SXSW 2009. Gary Schwartz, Detroit stop-motion aficionado, lead the animation workshop where kids age 13 to 19 were invited to join the fun. Participants are both cast & crew as they animate themselves frame by frame to hip-hop group The Cypher’s spoken word song “Erupt.’ The results were captured on the DV LunchBox from Animation Toolworks. The finished music video screened at SXSW with the ASoF: Youth MAFIA program at 5:00pm on Wednesday, March 18th & 11:30am March 21st both at the Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar 2.
