Question by Brian: How competitive am I for engineering graduate school?
Here are my stats:
B.S. Mechanical Engineering, UC Berkeley
B.A. Film and Digital Media, UC Santa Cruz
GPA: 3.15
GRE: 780Q, 460V, 4.0AW
Any suggestions on graduate schools that fit my profile would be greatly appreciated (this way I can check out the school and see if they offer anything that interests me). Thanks.

Not too shabby. Your GRE is good – it’s normal that your Q would be much higher than your V, for engineering, and your Q points toward some very strong programs. Your GPA is a bit low, but not too low. Berkeley is a very, very strong engineering school, so that absolutely helps with the GPA, a bit.
Some schools I’d have you look at would be reaches, due to your GPA, but not impossible: Berkeley, Stanford, MIT, Georgia Tech, USC, Carnegie Mellon, etc. Then some that I think you really stand a good chance at getting into: UT Austin, Purdue, UCLA, Wisconsin Madison, U Maryland College Park, Princeton, UCSB, Northwestern. Then some backups: Rensselaer Polytechnic, UC Davis, UC Irvine, BU, Arizona State, UMass Amherst.
These are *all* great schools, well respected.
