Question by Sarcastic Sid: How exactly does a screenwriter come about getting an agent?
Best answer:
Answer by meat
To get an agent – or a manager – the screenwriter first writes screenplays.
Then the screenwriter registers these screenplays with the Writers Guild of America.
Then the screenwriter gets a copy of the Hollywood Representation Directory and compiles a list of all of the managers and agents to contact.
Then the screenwriter sends all of these agents and managers a query letter.
Then the screenwriter responds to all of the agents and managers that requested more information from them.
And that’s how a screenwriter gets an agent.
