Question by albard: How to find documentary filmmakers who might be interested in a unique anti-consumerism/environmental idea.?
I do not have any background in film making / acting / arts. But I feel that this unique, non-fiction idea make for a powerful documentary. This will involve profiling lives of some monks who are educated, erudite, live in big cities but live a life of almost zero consumption of resources, all by choice. For example, can you imagine people doing inter-cty travel on foot (yes, walk every day for 2-3 months to cover, say, 1000 miles).
This lifestyle can be contrasted with the other extreme – where consumption and material possesion drive the lives.
All I have is this idea – is there a way I can send it to some documentary film makers who have the talent, passion, background to make this type of a non-fiction film. I am a professional working for a large corporation and have no clue beyond a 1-page outline on this idea. Thanks for your help in guiding me to some names / forums. I am prepared to send “cold emails” to whoever I need to 🙂
Thanks!!

You will need more than an outline to excite a director or producer. You’ll need a script or storyboard to convey your idea. Don’t expect someone else to take up the mantle if you do not have enough faith in the project to take it to the next level.
