Hi I am a rookie Independent Filmmaker and just join a production and been asked how much would I charge for a music Video and how much would I charge for a short
should I charge per day ?
per work ?
Per hr?
per video ?
I also live in Florida, I think that matter right , can you guys help me or point me in the right direction of a place I can go to (website wise) to answer my question

it depends on how good you are. If this is a gig (say an indie band) then charge like 200 bucks for the whole thing. you’re getting paid and experience and if it comes out well then they might recommend you to others or others might see your work. Then add 50 bucks next time. If the indie band is really more professional (like signed to a real label adn stuff, you might get another 100 or 200 off of them). Depends on the level of professionalism really. Also make sure you have caveats in your contract (like get paid 1/2 before you start and the 1/4 after finishing production and last 1/4 when you turn in the video).
also ask on dv8art.com but make sure the people that answer have actually WORKED BEFORE!!! Sometimes dumb people give advice that don’t need to be giving it.
If nothing else I would call local film schools and perhaps ask some people (if it’s a community college with the film class in it, I’d be weary sometimes teachers teach but don’t know diddly.)
