Question by D: I desperately want to quit karate?
I am 20 years old and I have been an active member of a karate school since I was 6. The reason why I have stayed with the program is because my father is very enthused about it (he is also an active member) and he wants to see me succeed and continue to get promoted to higher ranks. However, I am in the middle of getting my bachelor’s degree and I absolutely dislike going to karate class when there are so many more important things to take care of. But sadly my father expects me to go to the classes regardless of what else is going on in my life because he thinks that is more important for me. I am studying filmmaking, but whenever I am involved in my own personal film projects, he thinks that I am just doing it for fun and expects me to do it around my karate schedule. The only thing I have control over is my limited work schedule. I desperately want to quit but I don’t know how to break it to my dad without making him upset. Help!!!!!

Well you are 20 years old. It’s time to grow up and make your own decisions and your dad should respect you decision to leave because you are per suing something that you really want to do.
