Question by mexicanrevolutionary: I got into UC Berkeley….?
I just graduated last June and applied to many schools including Cal. I applied just out of curiosity without expecting to get in to even UC Irvine. I got accepted to Cal (for spring), Irvine UCSB, and rejected to UCLA. My GPA was 3.69 weighted and 3.3 unweighted. SAT Scores were 1690. I’m somewhat involved in my community and was the president of a filmmaking club at my school. My school didn’t offer many AP or honors classes, which is why my GPA is so low. I was in the top quarter of my graduating class. My personal statement was very good, I explained that I have high expectations of myself and gave an example of taking leadership in my community.
My question is: is it common for a student with my credentials to get accepted to Berkeley? Whenever I tell anyone I got into Berkeley with my grades and SAT scores they are very surprised and don’t believe me. So am I extremely lucky or are most spring admits like me also?
Also, any advice on how to succeed at Cal?
Thanks a lot!

u are extremely lucky and it sounds like a fluke, unless you got into another better school this same way, go there do not miss out on this opportunity.
