Question by critic: Is it illegal to take a short story and make it a short film?
Can you take a short story and make a film out of it, and only put it on Youtube.?
I am not looking to make money off of someone’s work without permission, I just like having fun making movies (movies that last maybe 5 minutes). And there are some stories I have read that I would have fun making into short films. I would not be making money off of it, just posting it on Youtube.
Is that illegal?

I don’t think so, as long as you aren’t trying to profit off of it. Though be sure to give credit to the story and author in your film credits.
