Question by ch33rbl0ndi3babe: Job as an film and television producer?
Hey I’m a junior in high school (GA) and I want to be a film producer. But i’m not really sure what “type” of producer because in some movie credits you have a producer, executive producer, line producer, and the list goes on and on. My high school doesn’t offer anything in film and television and I still have another year before college. So my question is, what can I do right now to prepare me for a job as a producer? I want to learn how to do EVERYTHING they do. And what requirements or special training a producer may need? How do I become a producer?

Get to college, major in film studies or something along those lines. Get a job or internship as a production assistant, which is most often the stepping stone to becoming a producer. As a PA you’ll learn a lot about the making of a movie/tv show, from pre-production through post-production. From there you can decide which area you want to go into. Also, it will be hard for you to become a PA in GA, most of the production companies are in NY or CA. And oh yeah, there is no specific training needed to become a producer, but being creative and being a good problem solver.
