The finale to the 2009 Kent County Council Peer Drugs Education Drama Competition was held in Maidstone, Kent, in March 2009. Six schools from across the County made it to the finals, where they performed to an audience of professionals and pupils alike. Their plays were themed Drugs: Your Community, Your School, Your Say, and promoted educational messages around drugs education, as well as giving the pupils a change to demonstrate their drama skills. The Competition supports the PHSee curriculum and is run annually by the Kent County Council Drugs Education Advisors. studio96 were on hand to capture the days events and the performances. Using a 3 camera Sony HDV setup, (output in normal definition), a number of vox pop style interviews were conducted, together with images and scenes filmed to capture the atmosphere of the day. For the live performances, on the fly shooting enabled us to best record the dynamic nature of the event, supported by a fixed camera to allow the full stage to be filmed. Post production was in consultation with Kent County Council but the creative lead was taken by studio96 to produce a vibrant video to match the content. Over 180 discs were produced to bespoke requirements as well as being hosted on Kent TV. studio96 also provided the original music heard in the film, due to copyright issues.
