All Ages! -15 Sliding Scale Evergreen Alum Joe Carr and independent filmmaker Jeff Zavala have teamed up to create a revolutionary multi-media showcase. Joe will perform his political hip-hop music inspired by his experience organizing nonviolent resistance in Palestine, Iraq, Lawrence, KS and Austin, TX. Joe was with Rachel Corrie when she was murdered and will be performing his song with a video about that experience. Jeff will show his short documentaries of various activist movements that coincide with Joe’s songs. Many of Jeff’s videos document Austin’s Immigrant’s Rights Movement. Patty Zavala of the Workers Defense Project will give an update from their successful campaigns holding local businesses accountable for mistreatment of immigrant workers. Afrok is an Oly-native socially conscious hip-hop musician. He’ll sing about family, God, and the struggle. Evergreen alum and local activist Will Hewitt will also share his spoken word poetry inspired by his experiences in the movement. He was also with Rachel when she was murdered.
