Question by shocking-pink: Makeup Artists?
I’m going to be a makeup artist as a career but i was just wondering what the best courses are? and whether you need an agent or not? I’m currently studying media for film production but when i finish in a years time i want to pursue my passion for makeup any information would be excellent! thank you

getting work in this industry is VERY tough. its usually really slow going, and takes years and years to establish ones self unless you ‘know someone’ with some connections. an agent? no, not that i’ve ever been aware of. i’d make sure that if you are going to pursue it, that you have multi-skills to offer. you should know how to do hair and nails as well, as it helps you get a bit more of your foot in the door if you can do a few things. whoever can do more for them, thats who they’ll go with. work your butt off and go to a top of the line school, somewhere reputable and with a fantastic reputation, thats very important too. (graduating from “Susies School of Cosmetology” isn’t going to help you to do anything but get a job at the local drugstore.) ………….. good luck to you.
