The only reason I would think that editing is an art form is because editing helps perfect a scene to appeal to the audience. When someone usually writes an essay or does anything that is directed to attract people to read or watch it, they are going to want to make it as appealing as possible in order to hold onto their interest. For instance, the movie Memoirs of A Geisha is about a young girl that grows up in a geisha house that is taught how to be a geisha. The movie is dramatic and very artful in the sense that it is about another country’s culture. This would appeal to anyone who likes drama and different cultures.
Hope this helps a bit!
