I filmed this short film in a few days over a couple of weeks, and spent about 3 weeks straight editing it together. I had no equipment to film with other than a Sony Handi-cam and windows movie maker. I have no formal training of any kind ( no books, no classes, etx.) but I consider myself to have quite a natural eye for film making, could be wrong though lol. My filming and writing partner scripted this out in a few days for a contest we were trying to get into very quickly. There is a longer version that we have already started to film but had to cut short due to timing. It is really dark in the begining so sorry about that, on some lcd’s it is even darker than normal, they consist of an outside low shot to a pan upwards with a zoom in shot of a home window with a blend wipe to our main character Tommy lying in bed not being able to sleep when he turns his alarm off and gets up, he then goes in and gives his daughter a kiss. Other than the dark scenes in the begining I am quite proud of what we were able to do with basically nothing. So enjoy and please feel free to leave comments.
[It only features Jean-Baptiste – not the entire segment.] English Translation (I’m in the process of editing this more so be patient. Thanks) : Remember Jean-Baptiste Maunier. At 12 years old, it’s barely the revelation of Les choristes, the enormous film of 2004. 3 years earlier, Jules (?), 11 years old, landed his first role in “Mr. Batiniole”, an instant success. Jules (?) – “I haven’t eaten for 3 days” We found these 2 child stars again, now almost 20 years old and still engaged in their early careers, their hopes and dangers of the profession when starting young. So have they fufilled enough to build a career like Brigitte Fossey and Benoit Magimel, or end up like Macaulay Culkin or Lindsay Lohan, the child stars that have burnt their wings? New York, last month. Jean-Baptiste – Hello, welcome to my home. The young man opens the doors of his New York apartment to us only for this occasion ; you’ll know him of course, because despite his 1.94 meter (6’5″) height, his “frimousse” [sweet, angelic face] hasn’t really changed. Clément Mathieu – Who is Mr. Morange? Pierre Morange was the singer of Les Choristes. He lived here for 9 months with his godmother, is delighted with his new life, even if he misses some French habits a lot. JBM – I what I miss above all is taking my coffee outside and sitting quietly at a terasse. Here it’s … they’re moving all the time, you just take your coffee and go to work. It’s quite difficult to adjust to. If he is here, it’s because he …
