Question by clownface: Please help me to understand why my Mormon friend did this?
My best friend is morman and I’m agnostic (98% atheist), we are adult women with kids. She knows my views and accepts me and we’ve never had any problems. We’d talked on many occasions about being biracial and our love for culture and I’ve mentioned my desire to travel internationally having done so on occasion. She has decided to embark on a kids documentary where they travel the world and document her kids experiences. She has the help of famous mormon documentary filmmakers and feels she is ‘mandated by god’ to do so. That’s all well and good but the other’s on the documentary are white and have no experience with being bi racial and multicultural. She herself doesn’t have any experience with her ‘culture’ or the homeland. She knows this is my passion and choose not to include me in on this in any way, not even for input. I told her I was hurt and she said, god has chosen me for this and its out of my hands. I told her this is my issue and I’m sorry I feel this way. I really feel bad I’m upset but I don’t understand why she is not including me. Today I found out she choose a white american kid Mormon, to co-host with her own kids when I suggested in the beginning to use mine because they are mixed and have world views having traveled abroad. Is this a thing where she can only use Mormons because is that how Mormons think? She is my best friend and her kids are my kids best friends. I’m deeply hurt and saddened that she picks strangers that are Mormons with no ties to multiculturism for this project on culture and bi racial children.
