Question by aSCREAMproduction: Applying to Tisch at NYU – What are my chances?
I applying to the Tisch School of the Arts at NYU this fall to major in film. Please look at my stats and information and evaluate my chances of being accepted. Keep in mind that I am probably applying early decision.
ACT score: 31
AP scores: World History 5, Environmental Science 5, English Language 4, Government 3
-I have made seven short films while I was in high school (one of which one an award at my School County medial festival and another which placed finalist at the Arlington film festival) and a short documentary
-I have volunteer at an animal shelter every summer
-I have been a volunteer test subject at NIH
-I have been a paid production assistant for a short internet series
-I am the president of the Film club and Environmental Club at my high school, and was a member of the Key Club
-I have been interviewed about a short film I made on my county school’s network
-I participate in various fundraisers at my school
Total community service: over 500 hrs
-I have taken “Independent Film Courses” at my local arts academy in 9th, 10th and 11th grade
-I attended New York Film Academy’s film program in the summer of 2007
-I was accepted to Oxbridge Academic Program in Paris during the summer of 2008. I attended it
-I was accepted to Ithaca College Summer High School Program and received three college credits (I got an A in the course)

I can’t say if you have a good chance or not. But I will say you have the same chance as everyone else that’s applying. Everyone has an even chance; they don’t really care what you did before, good or bad. What really, REALLY matters is your portfolio. You knock ’em out with that, and nothing else matters. Just show them what you WILL do. Show them you have potential.
