Question by Forrest: How do I make it seem like I am filming at night?
I am in the pre-production stage of a short film, and I am rather banking on making it seem as though it it is at night (it takes place over the course of one night, you see). All of the shots are indoors, but actually filming at night is not an option, I’m afraid, so how can I make it seem like night? Draw all the blinds and curtains? Put the occasional quintessential owl and cricket noises in (the last one is a joke)?
Any ideas from you wisened filming veterans?

Well, i can try to suggest a few things but it depends on the camera or programme you use to edit it on the computer.
Play with the camera options, the one you definitely want is shadow increasing, but the same ffect can be achieved many other ways.
Try making a small practice video and putting it on the computer, seeing if you can edit it there to look dark.
Its amazing sometimes how much you can change things on the cmoputer 🙂
