Question by sas0814: How do people get featured in documentaries?
I was wondering how people are choosen to be featured in documentaries. It all seems random, but there has to be more to it than that. Even those network news features or magazine shows such as dateline, how do they find their subjects? I would like to filmed and documentated but I don’t know how to get into it?

You need to be a prominent subject matter expert. It wouldn’t help to have been published several times on the subject.
Those shows and documentaries aren’t going to just put random people on. Their credibility is tied into everything that comes out of the mouths of their guests, so it’s incumbent on the news agency to to their homework, find the best, most available person to speak on a given subject.
I’m sure that some of it is knowing the right people, as well as being int he right place at the right time.
Try contacting those companies and shows and asking them.
