Question by Chef Boyardee: UBC acceptance, possible or unlikely?
I am a junior at an American high school. I have a cumulative GPA of 3.4, got a 1960 on my first (of 2 or more) SAT I, and I partake in an advanced placement documentary film studies and production class.
I’m thinking trying to get accepted to UBC Vancouver next year to pursue architecture or film studies, but I’d like to get an idea of whether or not I have a shot at getting in. I’ve had little luck finding acceptance rates, and the only student who has gone there in the past 3 years from my HS has a gpa of 3.9 and over 2100 on his SAT I, so I’m a little worried if this is representative of the average UBC student.
Thanks in advance.

Hi there,
I honestly don’t think a 3.9 GPA and 2100 SAT score is the average representation of a student at UBC. I got in with an 86% average from a BC high school with scholarships. The website below is of the BFA Film Studies department. The only requirement for your first year is taking FIST 100 (with a minimum mark of 72%). So, if you keep up your average (or bump it up to 3.5+), I believe you have a strong chance at getting into UBC faculty of Arts, then majoring in Film Studies. Hope this helped!
