Question by steama1973: What are the chances of becoming a successful screenwriter?
I’m 22, have a bachelors in finance (boring) and really interested in writing screenplays, I think its a truly great art. I have a lot of fun doing it too. I’ve been researching technique and principles and it seems like something I can do. What are the chances that this can be a full time job that pays great?

Complete amateurs can make it big doing screenplays. If you think you got what it takes, I’d devote as much time to it as you can. Buy a few books on screenwriting (such as the “For Dummies” book). Guys off the street like you can submit a winning screenplay and make big money. It doesn’t happen every day, but your odds are better as a screenwriter than say, an actor.
