It’s kind of like trying to decide between an Accord and Camry. Either option is going to be fine for you but you need to think about what you will be doing and whether this is an investment in your skills or equipment.
For skills I would go cheap and get a camera that lets you play with things like focus and aperture. Make sure you can get a tripod if you don’t have one already.
For equipment look for something that will allow you to get more manual control and accessories. Things like bigger/better lens, camera controls adding monitor and hard drives etc. You want to look for something that has a better chip set(3 vs 1) also larger chips(1/2″ vs 1/6″) with more pixels. A camera that has three 1/3″ chips is going to look great next to a camera with one 1/6″ chip.
The Sony HDR-FX1 is an HD camcorder and uses 1/3″ chips. He DCR-HC28 as one 1/6″ chip. The price reflects this…a little.
