Question by Fereshte: Team Lioness: Why are they hiding this?
“Despite written policy banning women from direct ground combat, military commanders have been using women in direct ground warfare as an essential part of their operations since 2003. Though official policy forbids this operation and publicly denies its existence, this initiative and company of women have a name: they are called Team Lioness”
A new documentary just hit that covers the “Lioness” soldiers: women who follow male marine infantry soldiers into the heart of insurgent hostile areas to placate and search the Iraqi women during raids. Yet when violence erupted, they were often forced to engage in direct combat.
Essentially, women aren’t supposed to be in combat, but seeing as how they now are, why does the government keep covering it up? Why not just let everyone know the program exists?
“At one point, one of the women has her former Lioness teammates over to watch a History channel special on a particular mission they were a part of, one that was incredibly violent and gruesome, and there is no mention whatsoever about the women who fought alongside the male soldiers. There are, however, plenty of references to the “brave men” who faced this particular ordeal.”
So it seems the women are there making history as US female combat soldiers and yet being erased from it. As the movie’s tag line puts it, “There for the action. Missing from history.”
So why aren’t these women given more recognition and why isn’t their contributions being made public?

My guess…is that if they finally admit that women can be in combat they are going to have some serious back paddling to do. They will have to let the women who have passed elite forces training (34 women have completed the seals bud’s program) in. They will have to open up ALL the rating is women. Including submarines(you know women cant participate in over half of the navy ratings) The will have to allow women to sign up for selective services.
It’s called BS! and HOORAH!!!!!!!!!!!! to these women!
I’ve heard of this….from talk. You know but didn’t have the name. Thanks
