Question by metallics: What it is the time for post production marketing on a documentary?
While I know this varies..my question is how do you go about marketing the film once it is done..in the art house, documentary crowd? If it is well funded how long does this process usually take. Basically once post production is finished, how long to get a documentary up and going? (if it is good)

Generally the principle photography can take as little as four to six weeks.
It is the research and getting the rights form the stock houses that supply the background images can take over six months and the the editing can take literally years.
If you are funded then the process can take a lot less time and if you have an experienced production team it can take much less time.
