Start by giving your definition of a stereotype, and how stereotypes are a commonplace in our society. List stereotypes affecting your target research group (the LGBT community I assume), and discuss how these stereotypes are negatively affecting the gay rights movement. Explain that even though a stereotype may seem harmless or flattering, it can have negative repercussions throughout society and affect people in all different demographic groups. For example, people who believe all gay men are bitchy queens and avoid them are missing out on a great opportunity to be friends with a very nice individual. Shed light in the form of verified facts to dispel stereotypes, and give the possible roots to these stereotypes.
Best of luck with your documentary 😉
